Mission Statement

United Presbyterian Church of Albany seeks to be a multi-generational congregation that follows Christ and has an impact on our community and world.
The church will nurture members, attendees and neighbors and put God’s word into action when and where God calls us to respond. Love, compassion and humility {see I Peter 3:8, NIV} guide and characterize this church. We use our gifts to support activities and missions and to respond to challenges with love and passion for all.
We recently celebrated the centennial of our beautiful facility and are committed to maintain it for worship and community use. We seek to mindfully respond to the times and enhance worship to the glory of God. The church will reach into the community, engaging children and youth to be of service to God.

About the Church

Our beautiful stone church was dedicated on Easter Sunday, March 23, 1913 with Povey stained glass windows accenting our sanctuary. We proclaim a timeless message of God’s love for the world with a new and fresh voice blending the new and old. You will find our congregation to be friendly and welcoming. We have many activities to serve a variety of age groups and needs.
Our service begins at 10:00 am on Sunday mornings. Children of all ages are welcome in worship. We have a “Time with Children” each Sunday during the service where the pastor invites young ones to come forward if they are comfortable doing so. Child care (age 0-5) is offered in The Children’s Garden, Rm. 209 on the second floor of our Education Wing during the morning service. Everyone is invited to partake of free coffee, juice and refreshments in the “Round Room” following worship each Sunday.

United Presbyterian Church of Albany (UPC) is a long standing church in the community. Church members are active in mission activities, supporting many local community social service organizations, and embarking on both national and international mission service trips. We have an active sewing ministry and music ministry. Children and youth are important to church members and we have had a range of Christian education programs over the years including vacation bible school. We have a very active Childcare Center and Preschool, providing one of the few infant daycares in Albany. Church fellowship is a key feature and includes breakfast fellowship, women’s fellowship activities, senior fellowship activities and transportation. A lay pastoral assistant provides additional outreach to seniors and members. Recently, we celebrated the 100-year centennial of our magnificent historic building. Due to its age, members are committed to its care and maintenance using endowment funds that have been set aside for the building; currently, we are having our glass windows restored. The church is a regular stop during historic tours of the community and often used by community performing groups.
